I started my VN training in 1987, working and training in a Lincoln Veterinary Hospital (mixed practice). I qualified as a veterinary nurse in 1990, and continued to work in small animal & mixed practices, as well as lecturing at the Berkshire and Warwickshire Colleges (I was also an Internal Verifier at Warwickshire College).
From 2000 - 2004 I was very lucky to live & work in Guernsey, as a full-time assessor and VN in a mixed practice. I moved to MYF Training in September 2006, as a full time Internal Verifier. I hold the D32/33/34/V1 awards, and still enjoy my job very much. It is satisfying to be able to help the many clinical coaches who are working in busy practices, as well as training their students.
I like to keep up to date with my own nursing skills & do spend some time working in Practice as well – I particularly enjoy medical nursing, especially laboratory work, nurse clinics and in-patient care. After stepping down from the BVNA Council after 10 years as a Council member (and its President in 2007/08, and 2011/12), I now have more time to concentrate on my ballroom & latin dance lessons. I am also a member of my local drama group, spending time on & back stage, entertaining the local Hampshire population (as well as my regular MYF Training ‘rent-a-crowd’).
