Jane Cottrell DipAVN (Surgical) RVN

I began training as a Veterinary Nurse in 1987 while working in a mixed practice.  I qualified in 1990 after attending Berkshire College of Agriculture.  I continued to work in the practice and gained the City and Guilds Certificate in Small Animal Nutrition and Diploma in Advanced Veterinary Nursing (Surgical) before leaving in 1996 to work as a Lecturer in Animal Care and Veterinary Nursing.  I achieved the City and Guilds Further and Adult Education Teaching Certificate and D32/D33 Assesor Awards while lecturing.  I returned to nursing in a mixed practice in 2000 and continued with my nursing career and particularly enjoyed training student nurses, anaesthesia, surgical and feline nursing.  During this time I achieved the International Society of Feline Medicine Certificate and Diploma in Feline Nursing, both with Distinction.

I joined MYF in November 2015 and teach Clinical examination, Administration of medication, Anaesthesia, Theatre Practice and Nursing support/medical disorders.  I also prepare students for sitting their OSCE practical examinations.
